Hot goalie leading Anaheim
ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Mighty Ducks are flying again in the playoffs, propelled by an unflappable young goalie.
Ilya Bryzgalov has picked up where Jean-Sebastien Giguere left off three years ago.
Bryzgalov, a 25-year-old Russian, has joined Frank McCool as the only NHL rookies to log three consecutive shutouts in the playoffs. Toronto's McCool did it in 1945.
The Ducks' goalie has gone 229 minutes, 42 seconds without giving up a goal, longest by a rookie in league playoff history and fourth longest by any goalie. George Hainsworth tops that list with a stretch of 270:08 for Montreal in 1930.
Bryzgalov (whose name is pronounced ihl-YUH breez-GAH-lahf) has stopped 92 shots during his scoreless streak.
Ryan Getzlaf started the scoring in the first period, and Ruslan Salei and Joffrey Lupul added goals in the second.
