NORTH VERSAILLES — John Duncan Jr. and Richard Hildebrand, representing the Butler County Bowling Association, were in second place in the handicapped doubles category after last week's play at the Pennsylvania State Bowling Association's state championships.Duncan and Hildebrand recorded a score of 1,449, which was seven pins behind the first-place team, Jeffrey Lupold and Eric Seyler of Pottstown Bowling Association.
SLIPPERY ROCK — Thomas Howard, a former defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at Allen (S.C.) University, was hired as defensive backs coach at Slippery Rock University, athletic director Paul Lueken announced Tuesday.Howard also served for two seasons as the team's linebackers coach.Howard played four seasons at Morehouse College in Atlanta, where he served two seasons as team captain and graduated cum laude in May 2003 with a bachelor's degree in early childhood development.Howard succeeds longtime SRU assistant Jay Foster, who left to take the head coaching position at Clarion University.
