PHILADELPHIA — Fran Dunphy, who turned Penn into an NCAA tournament regular, will take over at Temple to replace Hall of Fame coach John Chaney, a school official told The Associated Press.

Dunphy won 10 Ivy League championships and led the Quakers to nine NCAA tournaments.

Chaney retired last month after guiding Temple to 17 NCAA tournament appearances in 24 seasons.

NEW YORK — Ricky Williams will meet with league officials Monday seeking to overturn a drug suspension that could cost him the entire 2006 season.League officials will not confirm drug suspensions under a league policy that maintains confidentiality for positive tests.If the positive test is upheld, it would be Williams' fourth violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy.

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. — Andy Roddick beat Chile's Fernando Gonzalez in four sets to clinch the Davis Cup quarterfinal, the seventh time Roddick has locked up a round for the United States.Roddick had to come from behind to take a 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-2 victory that gave the United States an insurmountable 3-1 lead.The Americans will play at Russia — a 4-1 winner over France — in the semifinals.
