Outlaws roll into Sarver

Late Model drivers take stage Friday

The World of Outlaws Late Models series resumes action Friday night at Lernerville Speedway.

This will be the seventh race of the series this season and the first since March 18. The 50-lap feature pays $10,000 to the winner.

Steve Francis of Ashland, Ky., leads the OutlawsLate Model points race with 572. He tied Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark., with 5,384 points last season and both drivers won five features in 2005.

Moyer was awarded the points championship because he had more second-place finishes.

Rounding out the top five points finishers from last season were Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., Rick Eckert of York, Pa., and Chub Frank of Bear Lake, Pa.

McCreadie led the circuit with eight feature wins a year ago.

Shane Clanton trails Francis by eight in the current points race. Moyer has 550 points, McCreadie 546 and Dale McDowell 536.

Friday will mark the fifth OutlawsLate Model race hosted by Lernerville. Frank won two of the previous four with McDowell and Moyer winning the others.

Other prominent area Late Model drivers include Mike Blose, David Scott, Mike Johnson, Davey Johnson and Ken Schaltenbrand.

The average car count at OutlawsLate Model shows has been 55.
