The FCAGems All-Star Cheerleading squads won five national championships at the recent Jamfest Nationals at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh.

Pink Ice, Emeralds, Sapphires, Tanzanites and Rubies all won national titles. The Tanzanites were grandf champions of the overall competition.

Head coach Jennifer Watterson and assistants Beth Dittmer and Marissa Sorg won two choreograophy awards.

Joe Pitkavish, a longtime Western Pennsylvania race car owner who died in 29002 at age 88, will receive the Gene Dewitt Outstyanding Car Owner Award at the DUIRTNorthEast Hall of Fame inductions May 28 in Weedsport, N.Y.Pitkavish teamed with Sprint car driver William "Blackie" Watt to win a Lernerviller Speedway single-season record 14 features in 1974. They spent 25 years together as a race team and won 144 races, including 61 at Lernerville.Jimmy Pitkavish organizes an annual DIRTModified race at Lernerville in his grandfather's memory each season.

Butler resident Matt Clement pitched four scoreless innings for the Boston Red Sox in Monday's 7-5 exhibition baseball loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.Clement struck out four, allowed two hits zand no walks. It was his first mound appearance of the spring against another major league club.

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison will visit UPMCPassavant Cranberry's Open House from 11 a.m. to1 p.m. Saturday.The open house for Passa ant's new Imaging Center and Comprehensive Breast Center runs from 10 am. to 2 p.m.

Two Butler Cubs boxers will be competing at the Western Pennsylvania Police Athletic League's Golden Gloves Western Pennsylvania semifinals.Ryan Covert will take on James Lubash (South Park) in a 178-pound bout while K.P. Pech will face Rocco Tettis (Ridgway) in another 178-pound event.Both fights are part of a 16-bout card, taking place Friday at the Syria Shriners Center off Route 28 in Cheswick.Tickets will be available at the door or can be purchased in advance by calling 412-716-3650.

TAMPA, Fla. — Former baseball star Dwight Gooden was arrested on charges of violating the terms of his probation.The 41-year-old pleaded guilty in November to speeding away from police after a DUI traffic stop in August 2005 and was sentenced to three years probation. He went to a regular meeting with a probation officer, where he admitted to using cocaine, according to Jo Ellyn Rackleff, a spokeswoman for the Department of Corrections.
