Freeport graduate David Bauman is a sophomore guard on the Albany (NY)University basketball team, which qualified for this year's NCAA Basketball Tournament.

Albany (21-10), a 16th-seed, plays top-seeded Connecticut Friday. Bauman has seen limited action in seven games this season.

Butler High School graduate and St. Vincent College junior point guard Maura Connelly has been named an NAIA Scholar Athlete for the 2005-06 season.Connelly started all 28 games for the Lady Bearcats this season, averaging 5.8 points and three assists per game.She also led the team with a 3-point percentage of 48.3.Connelly's plans include transferring to Slippery Rock University in the fall and becoming a doctor after graduation.
