Butler graduate Sarah Thiebaud, a freshman on the West Chester University women's track and field team, placed in three events at the recent PSAC Invitational at East Stroudsburg.

Thiebaud placed fourth in the long jump with an effort of 37 feet, 1 inch, fifth in the high jump with a 5-3 and seventh in the long jump with a 16-10½.

Robert Zang of Cranberry Township, a Butler native, repeated as grand champion in patterns at the 33rd annual U.S. Open Martial Arts Championships held recently at the University of Charleston (W.Va.).Zang also took first place in patterns in the men's black belt division. He is a sixth-degree black belt and master instructor at Young Brothers Tae Kwon-Do Institute in Cranberry.Other area trophy winners were Michael Sybert of Middlesex Township (first place in sparring, age 16 and 17 black belt division), Ron Sankey of Butler (first place in patterns, senior men's black belt), Lake Sankey of Butler (second place in patterns, junior black belt) and Amy Evans of Butler (second place in sparring, women's black belt).
