SV performs musical based on classic tales
JACKSON TWP — Seneca Valley School District's performances of "Seussical" will be begin at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday at the Seneca Valley Intermediate High School auditorium, 126 Seneca School Road.
Performances are also set for 2 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 p.m. March 3 and 4.
Tickets cost $7 for adults and $5 for students.
Based on the works of Dr. Seuss, the musical features characters and elements from more than 15 classic works by the children's author.
In addition to meeting for the first time in the musical, the characters become involved in a variety of scenarios including falling in love, saving the world, and traveling to the Jungle of Nool, McEligott's Pool and Palm Beach.
Written by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, the show is being produced by Aaron Magill, who also will serve as the vocal director. Other staff members include Nathan Brewer, director; Bruce Smith, instrumental director; Amanda Iman, choreographer; and Aly Rotz, student choreographer.
Cast members include Jon Lutz as Horton; James Cave as the Cat in the Hat; Marrisa Guthrie as Mayzie; Danielle Maggio as Gertrude; Stacey Kline as Sour Kangaroo; Zach Renner at Jojo; Dan Guerriero as Mr. Mayor; Erin Cozad as Mrs. Mayor and as the Mayzie understudy; Evan Addams as the Grinch; David Sweikowski as Gen. Gengis Kahn Schmitz; Andrew Brugnone as Judge Yertle the Turtle; Josh Smith as Vlad Vladikoff and the Wickersham brothers understudy; Emily Lambert as a Bad Girl and the Mrs. Mayor understudy; Kelly Lambert as a Bad Girl and the Gertrude understudy; Abbie Hoffman as a Bad Girl and the Sour Kangaroo understudy; Ryan Handerhan as a Wickersham Brother and the Schmitz understudy; Steve Millett as a Wickersham Brother and the Mayor understudy; Cy Fleming as a Wickersham Brother and the Horton understudy; Garrett Evans as a Wickersham Brother and the Cat in the Hat understudy.
