Designed to introduce families with school-age children to the library's resources, the one-hour program will include a building tour, demonstration of the card catalog and a scavenger hunt.

BUTLER TWP — The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department will begin accepting summer shelter reservations from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Butler County Government Center.Beginning at 1:30 p.m. Friday, reservations will be accepted during regular office hours at the Park Office, 184 Alameda Park Road.The availability of restroom and kitchen facilities in the Masonic Shelter is not guaranteed for the 2006 season.For information, call 724-284-5383.
The Order of United Commercial Travelers of America, Butler Council 465 is now sponsoring a safety poster contest in conjunction with the UCT's international competition.Safety posters created by students ages 18 and younger will be accepted through April 30. CHERRY TWP — The Bands of Moniteau High School will host a free midwinter band concert at 7 p.m. Thursday in the high school auditorium, 1810 W. Sunbury Road.The event will include performances by the jazz band, junior high band and senior high band, all under the direction of Rita Ferrere.
The YWCA of Butler is now accepting orders for 12-inch hoagies prepared by Friedman's Supermarkets.Hoagies will be sold for $5 each and can be picked up from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the YWCA, 120 W. BUTLER TWP — Lifesteps will host free Child Check developmental screenings for children age 5 and younger from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Dutilh United Methodist Church, Dutilh Road, Cranberry Township.Each screening takes about 30 minutes and results will be discussed with parents immediately.Appointments are recommended.
