Vase, arrangement ideal for children

This simple yet attractive little vase makes a great gift for grandma or your child's favorite teacher. Making the vase using a soup can and crayons and adding flowers also can help a child's creativity bloom.

On Valentine's Day, flowers are traded just like hugs and kisses. So, this year, have your child create a unique Valentine's Day arrangement for someone special.

Flowers have the power to make us feel good and arranging them can also help children's creativity bloom.

"Armed with a couple of tricks of the trade and some original ideas for vases, even young children can turn simple blossoms into a beautiful arrangement," says Julie McCann Mulligan, a Flowers.coom floral expert.

Your child can make a colorful vase using crayons.

These little vases make great gifts for grandma, or your favorite teacher.

Almost any flower will work as long as they have smallish blossoms.

Begin with an empty soup can filled with wet floral foam, found in most craft stores.

Place a rubber band around the can, midway up the can.

Insert the crayons point-side-up behind the rubber band, one by one, until they cover the can.

To conceal the rubber band, twist pipe cleaners over it.

Push short flower stems into the floral foam to arrange, placing the tallest ones at the center and fanning out from there.
