State seeking comment on muskie changes
HARRISBURG — The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission wants the public to help it decide on proposals to enhance fishing opportunities for muskellunge, northern pike and pickerel.
The commission hopes the efforts, which will go into place in 2007, will give anglers a better chance to catch larger fish.
PFBC spokesperson Dan Tredinnick said there are two options.
One is imposing a one-fish, 36-inch minimum catch for muskies that also will have additional regulations in special waters. Those waters will have a one-fish, 45-inch minimum size limit.
These special waters would include Lake Arthur at Moraine State Park.
Another option is setting a statewide limit catch of a one-fish, 40-inch minimum.
