The Cabot Knights of Columbus has announced the winners of its recent free throw championship.

Winners include: Austin Miller of Butler, Kaleigh Lowers of Freeport (age 10); Ron Cooper of Cabot, Dana Hinchberger of Sarver (11); Kevin Keppel of Sarver, Katherine Miller of Butler (12); Tyler Singer and Devon Herbert of Sarver (13); Mitchell Shaw of Butler, Sydney Grabigel of Natrona Heights (14).

The champions will participate in the District 82 free throw contest Feb. 11 at St. Luke in Hannahstown.

DENVER — Arbitrators denied snowboarder Chris Klug's challenge over selection criteria for the U.S. Olympic team Friday, meaning the 2002 bronze medalist won't be on the U.S. team heading to Turin next month.Klug challenged the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association's decision to bypass him for Tyler Jewell as the lone male parallel giant slalom racer on the 16-person snowboard team.USSA selection criteria calls for each racer's top two finishes in the current World Cup season to be averaged, and the person with the best average to earn the spot.Klug finished 15th and 16th for an average of 15.5. Jewell finished ninth and 24th for an average of 16.5.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.— All-star drivers from NASCAR, American open-wheel racing and the international world of sports cars prepared Friday for the Rolex 24 endurance race, America's most prestigious sports car event, which began at noon Saturday.Drivers include Nextel Cup champion Tony Stewart, defending IRL and Indy 500 champion Dan Wheldon and two-time defending Champ Car champion Sebastian Bourdais.The team of Lucas Luhr, Patrick Long and Mike Rockenfeller took the pole position for the twice-around-the-clock race.

SUNRISE, Fla.— New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur signed a six-year contract extension that will pay him $31.2 million.Brodeur will be 40 when this contract runs out after the 2011-12 season. He will be paid $5.2 million for each of the next six years.Brodeur has 427 career victories in 784 NHL games, all with New Jersey.
