The annual holiday catalog of the Butler County Historical Society is now available.

The catalog showcases over 70 local history books available for purchase through the society.

To request a catalog by mail, call 724-283-8116. Catalog orders can be placed by mail, phone or fax. Visa and MasterCard are accepted.

Items from the catalog can also be purchased from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Society's office on the seventh floor of the National City Bank Building, Main and Jefferson streets.

The Butler County chapter of the American Red Cross will host a First Aid for Cats and Dogs training course from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 21 at the chapter office, 312 Mercer St.The class introduces basic skills necessary to care for animals in life-threatening conditions.Cost for the class is $35 and gift certificates are available.To register, call 724-283-2810. Class size is limited.

Artists are now being sought for the second annual Age of Aquarius Art and Music Festival to be held from Jan. 27 to Feb. 24.All work must be original, suitable for viewing by families and represent the 1960s.Cost to enter is $30 for one or two pieces. Over $5,000 in cash prizes will be awarded.Entry forms are available on the show's Web site, www.ageofaquarius.org, or by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to The Art Center, P.O. LYNDORA — Tickets are now available for a New Year's Eve dance to be held from 9 p.m. Dec. 31 to 1 a.m. Jan. 1 at Ukrainian Hall.Cost is $15 per person and participants should take their own beverages. HARMONY — The Harmony Museum has announced its Holiday Hours for the Christmas and New Year's holidays.The museum will close at 4 p.m. Friday and reopen at 1 p.m. Jan. 2.However, the museum's shop on Mercer Street will open on Dec. 24 and from Dec. 27 through 31 for a post-holiday sale.

PITTSBURGH — The Northland Public Library is now collecting catalogs, newspapers, fax paper, magazines, office paper, school paper, folders, paperback books and hard cover books without bindings for recycling.As part of the Abitibi Paper Retriever Program, recycled items will be remanufactured into newsprint.The program will contribute funds to the library based on the amount of items received.For information, call the library at 412-366-8100, Ext. 135.Notices, in writing, of festivals, fundraising events, newly elected officers and other news from clubs and nonprofit groups should be sent to the Focus department one week in advance of the event.
