LAUSANNE, Switzerland — Tim Montgomery was suspended Tuesday for two years for doping, and the 100-meter world record he once held was wiped from the books.
Another U.S. sprinter implicated in the BALCO scandal, two-time Olympic relay medalist Chrystye Gaines, also received a two-year ban from the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Neither runner tested positive for drugs. The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency sought the bans based on evidence gathered in the criminal investigation of Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative .
The bans began retroactively on June 6, 2005. In addition, all Montgomery's results and prize money since March 31, 2001, and Gaines' performances since Nov. 30, 2003, were nullified.
LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Dodgers unloaded Milton Bradley Tuesday, sending the switch-hitting outfielder to the Oakland Athletics along with infielder Antonio Perez for minor league outfielder Andre Ethier, the Texas League player of the year.Bradley, acquired by the Dodgers shortly before the start of the 2004 season after a run-in with Cleveland Indians manager Eric Wedge, feuded with teammate Jeff Kent last season.Bradley didn't play after accusing Kent of a lack of leadership and an inability to deal with African-American players on Aug. 23. The following day, Bradley learned he had sustained serious injuries to his left knee that required surgery.

(AP) — Atlanta Falcons coach Jim Mora remained optimistic that the bruised ribs quarterback Michael Vick suffered Monday night will not keep him out of Sunday's game at Chicago.Mora said Vick should play against the Bears, even if he is held out of most of this week's practice schedule.Vick said he suffered the injury in the Falcons' 36-17 win over the New Orleans Saints when he tackled Jason Craft following Craft's second-quarter interception.X-rays on Vick's ribs were negative.
NEW YORK — Vancouver Canucks goalie Dan Cloutier will miss at least the rest of the regular season because of a knee injury that will require surgery to fix.Cloutier partially tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee when Anaheim forward Rob Neidermayer ran into him in the crease during the first period of a Nov. 20 game.
