Seneca Valley graduate Candice Eyerman, a four-year starter at guard for the Waynesburg College women's basketball team, scored the 1,000th point of her college career in Saturday's 78-65 loss to John Carroll.
Eyerman had 18 points in the game and has 1,001 in her career. She has a school-record 270 3-point field goals.
Eyerman was selected to the National City Tournament's all-tournament team as well, scoring 36 points while adding eight rebounds and four assists in two games.
Slippery Rock University freshman cross country runner Jeff Weiss placed third in the NCAA Division II national meet Saturday at Prado Park in Chino, Calif.Weiss completed the 10,000-meter course in 31 minutes, 18.2 seconds. He became The Rock's first cross country All-American since Eric Laughlin placed 22nd in 1993.Weiss' national finish is the best in SRU history, surpassing Laughlin's sixth-place finish in 1991.
