Basketball season a sellout at Pitt
PITTSBURGH — The University of Pittsburgh has sold all tickets for the 2005-06 men's basketball season, the school's fourth consecutive full-season sellout since the Petersen Events Center opened in 2002.
Nearly 11,000 season tickets have been sold in the 12,500-seat arena, with the rest of the seats allocated to students.
The sellout comes even though Pitt greatly increased the number of seats that required donations to the Panther Club athletic fundraising organization to buy. According to the school, 87 percent of all season ticket holders made Panther Club donations, up from 30 percent last season and 18 percent during the 2002-03 season.
The school has boosted season ticket sales fivefold since moving from Fitzgerald Field House to the Petersen Events Center.
