All seven FCA Gems All-Star cheerleading squads won state championship banners and trophies at the Elite Pennsylvania Cheerleading and Dance Championships held at the University of Pittsburgh recently.
Winning the state titles were: Pink Ice (second grade and under), Emeralds (fourth grade and under), Turquoise (sixth grade and under), Sapphires and Tanzanites (ninth grade and under), Rubys and Diamonds (12th grade and under).
The Sapphires competed at Level 2, the Tanzanites at Level 5. The Rubys competed at Level 4, the Diamonds at Level 5.
GREENSBURG — The death of a bowhunter killed by a shotgun wound to the chest is being called suspicious, but a coroner said more investigation is needed to determine if it homicide or an accident.The body of 39-year-old Steven Andrew Kachonik was found about 7:20 a.m. Sunday in Loyalhanna Township, Westmoreland County. Kachonik's family had reported him missing Saturday when he failed to return from bow hunting.State police and the Pennsylvania Game Commission were investigating.Kachonik was found near Route 981, near where he lived, according to the Westmoreland County Coroner's Office.
