The Karns City and Moniteau volleyball teams both lost in the first round of the District 9 Class AA playoffs Tuesday night.

The Wolves took the match by scores of 25-22, 25-22 and 25-16. The Gremlins end the season with a 7-9 record.
Punxsutawney 3, Moniteau 0 —
Kristin Baronetski had eight kills and three blocks, but the Warriors were swept by the No. 1 seeded Woodchucks 25-10, 25-16, 25-23.
Amber Dillaman had three kills and three blocks, Randi Campbell had five digs and Kendra Hall had six digs for Moniteau.
It also was the last match for Moniteau coach Alea Kennedy, who is resigning to take a job in New York City.
Sophomore midfielder Meghan McGrath tallied two goals in leading the Slippery Rock University women's soccer team to a 4-1 win over Edinboro Tuesday in the PSAC quarterfinals.The win sends The Rock (11-5-3) on the road against Indiana (Pa.) University in a semifinal match Friday.Also scoring in Tuesday's win were Julie Kirwan and Martina Hall.
