Christina Castello, food service director at Passavant Retirement Community, serves desserts to Jacob McKissock of Zelienople and his grandmother, Lois Buczynski of Baldwin. The Strand Theater Initiative and Passavant Retirement Community presented Taste of the New on Oct. 15 at the Sheraton Four Points, off Route 19 just south of Cranberry Township. Restaurants offered menu samples and Passavant chefs contributed desserts. Entertainment was provided by the Hewlett/Anderson Band. The Strand Initiative, the nonprofit group, developed the dining out event as an annual fundraiser and as a means of promoting North Pittsburgh as a culinary destination and establishing the region as a larger community.
