SRU men's soccer stays in line for playoff berth

Dave Keller scored two goals and sophomore goalie Chris Cook recorded his fifth shutout Wednesday as the Slippery Rock University men's soccer team defeated Kutztown, 3-0.

The win keeps The Rock atop the PSAC standings and enhances its chances of reaching the PSAC playoffs for the first time since 1985.

Freshman midfielder Shaun Reid scored SRU's first goal. Cook had four saves.

SRU (10-6-1, 9-4-1) hosts California, Pa., at noon Saturday at Egli Field.

Sophomore defender Sara D'Amario scored off an assist from sophomore Janice Feduke for Slippery Rock's only goal in a 4-1 women's loss to fourth-ranked Kutztown Tuesday.The loss dropped The Rock to 2-13 overall, 1-12 in PSAC play.SRU travels to Erie for a 4 p.m. game against Mercyhurst today.

Butler County Community College (29-7) defeated Penn State-Fayette 30-17, 30-13, 30-13 as Tawnie Osborne had 15 assists, 10 digs and eight aces.Autumn Burke added 10 kills, seven digs and four blocks while Heather Hartman had three kills and four blocks, Jasmine Mehelich seven digs and four aces.The Pioneers host Jamestown Community College at 6 p.m. Friday.
