Patient silence

A boy with an open wound on his forehead waits for doctors to attend to him in Balakot, Pakistan, today. With blocked roads, thousands of villagers are arriving daily after walking long distances, carrying the injured. An aftershock hit parts of the country today, scaring survivors and temporarily halting rescue efforts. There have been dozens of aftershocks since Saturday's 7.6 magnitude quake that demolished whole towns. The death toll is believed to be more than 35,000, with tens of thousands injured.
