Grove City College athletes Elisa Pedersen, Kristin McNally and Carlie Roberts were named Presidents' Athletic Conference Player of the Week in their respective sports.
Pedersen, a senior cross country runner, finished second in the 120-runner field at the Bill Sudeck Classic in Cleveland, helping the Wolverine women win the event.
McNally, a sophomore women's tennis player, posted a 6-0, 6-1 singles win and contributed to an 8-2 doubles win in helping Grove City blank Waynesburg, 9-0.
Roberts, a junior middle hitter on the volleyball team, earned tournament MVP honors at the Oberlin Invitational, accumulating 53 kills in four matches as Grove City won its first tournament title in four years.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Seattle Mariners rookie Mike Morse was suspended 10 days for violating baseball's steroids policy Wednesday, and said he was still being punished for an "enormous mistake" he made in 2003.Morse became the ninth major league player penalized under the sport's tougher drug rules. He hit a go-ahead single in the seventh inning for a 3-2 win over Oakland on Tuesday, and the grievance by the players' association to overturn the suspension was denied by arbitrator Shyam Das.
MADISON, Miss. - The PGA Tour's Southern Farm Bureau Classic has been moved to the first weekend in November because of Hurricane Katrina.Tournament executive director Robert Morgan said Wednesday that he asked the tour to postpone the $3 million event, originally scheduled for Oct. 6 through 9 at Annandale Golf Club, to give Mississippi time to recover from the deadly hurricane.
HOUSTON - LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Kevin Garnett and other NBA stars will play in a game Sunday in Houston to benefit Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.TNT basketball analyst Kenny Smith organized the game at the Toyota Center. It will start at 5 p.m. and will air on TNT at 11 p.m.Organizers said that participating players will donate money and supplies valued at more than $1 million to aid Katrina victims. Players are scheduled to hand out truckloads of supplies to shelters across the city before the game.
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Pimlico Race Course, home of the Preakness, will lose most of its racing next year because of competition from neighboring tracks with slot machines.The Baltimore track will feature cards for only 18 days, compared to 61 scheduled dates this year. Racing in the state will be limited mostly to Laurel, which is between Baltimore and Washington.The Canadian company Magna Entertainment Corp., owner of the two tracks, said it can no longer compete with tracks in Delaware and West Virginia that have slot machines and the recently authorized slots in Pennsylvania.
