BATON ROUGE, La. - LSU's football game against Arizona State on Saturday will be played in Tempe, Ariz., instead of Baton Rouge because of Hurricane Katrina.

Because of the many evacuees into the Baton Rouge area, the school does not have full use of campus facilities, and "we cannot guarantee housing for anybody," LSU chancellor Sean O'Keefe said.

RUIDOSO DOWNS, N.M. - After spending a wet winter training in Arizona, hard-charging Teller Cartel looked right at home in the rain and mud at Ruidoso Downs.The 17-1 long shot got a clean break on a muddy track, surged into the lead and stayed clear of traffic to win $1 million in the 440-yard All American Futurity.Oklahoma-bred Teller Cartel broke his maiden and gave trainer Paul Jones and 29-year-old jockey Cody Jensen their first victories in the All American, the most prestigious event in quarter horse racing.Teller Cartel won the sprint in 21.5 seconds from the No. 3 post.

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica - Costa Rican coach Alexandre Guimaraes was suspended by FIFA for Wednesday's World Cup qualifier against Trinidad and Tobago.FIFA imposed the penalty following Guimaraes' ejection by U.S. referee Kevin Stott during Saturday's 3-1 victory at Panama.Costa Rica (3-3-1) is third in the final round of North and Central American and Caribbean qualifying, trailing the United States (6-1), which has 18 points and has clinched a berth, and Mexico (5-1-1), which has 16 points.

LAUSANNE, Switzerland - An Olympic showjumper lost his appeal of a drug disqualification that cost Germany the team gold medal at the Athens Games.The Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld a Jan. 6 decision by the International Equestrian Federation that found Ludger Beerbaum and his horse, Goldfever 3, guilty of a doping offense. The horse tested positive for the steroid betamethasone in Athens.The international federation stripped Germany of the title, giving the gold to the United States. Sweden moved up to silver and Germany dropped to bronze.

D'ORDINO-ARCALIS, Andorra - Spain's Francisco Mancebo won the 10th stage of the Spanish Vuelta while Russia's Denis Menchov kept the overall lead in the first day of racing in the Pyrenees.Mancebo finished the 128-mile mountain stage from Vall d'En Bas to the D'Ordino-Arcalis ski resort in Andorra in 5 hours, 33 minutes, 49 seconds. Roberto Heras - the race winner in 2000, 2003 and 2004 - was second. Menchov, who captured the previous stage, was third.The 21-stage race ends Sept. 18 in Madrid.

Butler native Matt Clement improved to 13-3 this season for the Boston Red Sox by posting a 7-6 win over Baltimore Saturday.Clement pitched eight innings, allowing two earned runs and six hits. He struck out four and walked two.
