Butler graduate Tyrell Sales, a redshirt freshman linebacker at Penn State University, will start for the Nittany Lions in Saturday's opener against South Florida at Beaver Stadium.

Sales will start at middle linebacker for Dan Connor, who has been suspended indefinitely for disciplinary reasons.

CINCINNATI - Peter Warrick was released Tuesday by the Cincinnati Bengals, who have plenty of receivers but little patience left with the former No. 1 draft pick.The move came a day after Warrick asked to be released if the Bengals had written him out of their plans. He has played in only one preseason game because of injuries, failing to catch a pass.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Busch Series driver Reed Sorenson's crew chief was suspended Tuesday for six races for soaking tires at Bristol Motor Speedway.Brian Pattie was fined $35,000, suspended until Oct. 26 and placed on probation until the end of the year. Crew member Brandon Stafford also was suspended for six races and Sorenson was docked 50 points in the series standings.NASCAR officials caught Stafford rubbing an unapproved substance on Sorenson's tires on Friday before qualifying at Bristol. The practice is called "soaking tires" and is generally done to improve grip on the track.
