Towering flower

Mary McBride of Brady Township planted this lily in the yard of her daughter, Patty DeCaria, also of Brady Township. The lily has 15 blossoms and is about 7 feet, 8 inches tall. The lily bulb can be planted in either the fall or the spring. Most bloom between June and August. If you are thinking about planting lily bulbs this fall, choose a well-drained, sunny location. Dig a hole 6 inches deep, sprinkle in some bulb fertilizer, untangle the roots and place the bulb in the hole. The bulbs should be planted at least 8 inches apart.
