TAMPA, Fla. - Dwight Gooden will be jailed without bail until an October hearing, a judge ruled Friday, three days after the former star major league pitcher fled police during a DUI traffic stop.
State Circuit Judge Nick Nazaretian set an Oct. 25 hearing on the charges, which include a felony count of fleeing police and misdemeanor charges of DUI and resisting arrest without violence.

CROMWELL, Conn. - Justin Rose shot a 7-under 63 Friday to take a four-stroke lead after two rounds of the Buick Championship.Rose, playing for his first PGA Tour win, moved to 12-under 128.Former British Open champ and first-round co-leader Ben Curtis and Kevin Sutherland are tied for second at 8 under. Dean Wilson and Chris Smith are five strokes off the lead.
CINCINNATI - Andy Kennedy was hired as interim head coach at the University of Cincinnati Friday, two days after Bob Huggins was forced out as the Bearcats' basketball coach.Kennedy had been Huggins' top assistant and served as recruiting coordinator the past four years. Before that, he spent five years as an assistant at UAB, where he is the school's No. 2 career scorer.
