Music is big part of show

CONNOQUENESSING TWP - The Butler Farm Show board likes to bring smaller, local bands to the grounds instead of big-name productions, according to Jim Lokhaiser, a Farm Show spokesman.

The six bands that have been scheduled for this year follow the same theme. They are:

Aug. 8 - The Wrangler Band features three lead singers performing music varied from country to classic rock, including original songs.

Aug. 9 - Nancy Mills, a Butler native, is bringing her country act to the farm show again this year. Mills has preformed the National Anthem for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Lernerville Speedway and Virginia Slims Women's Legends of Tennis Tournament.

Aug. 10 - The Jentz Band, which organized in the mid-1960s, has changed its name but not its style. The band plans a show of oldies, classic rock, 1980s dance, hip-hop, country and pop hits.

Aug. 11 - Generation Gap will perform old standards and oldies.

Aug. 12 - Remington Ryde is a central Pennsylvania band formed by two cousins more than three years ago. With a bluegrass style, the band features a banjo, mandolin, fiddle and bass in addition to vocals by Ryan Frankhouser.

Aug. 13 - Fiddling contest and Diamonds in the Rough. Each night two free shows are performed at 7 and 9 p.m. at the Dingbats Pavilion.
