Justin Woodrow and Chase Rowe had three RBI each Wednesday night as Saxonburg clinched the Eagle County League regular-season title with a 14-1 victory over Slippery Rock.

The regular-season title is Saxonburg's third in 10 years. The squad also won championships in 1996 and 2002.

Brendan Malone contributed three hits and two RBI to Wednesday's win. Chad Lowe pitched a three-hitter in the five-inning affair.

The game marked Saxonburg's final regular season contest. The Eagle County League playoff meeting is Sunday, with playoffs scheduled to begin Monday.

Eight teams qualify for postseason play this year. The first round is a best-of-three, followed by best-of-five semifinal and final rounds.

"Teams are going to need a lot of good pitching to get through this thing," Saxonburg manager Dan Cunningham said. "The league has four really good teams and any one of them can win it."

Saxonburg won the league championship last season.

In other action, Zelienople defeated Harmony, 9-1, as Mike Wert scattered eight hits. Dan Reale collected three hits - including a home run - and four RBI.
