U.S. troops secure the area after a car bomber attacked a U.S. military convoy east of Baghdad today. Officials did not say if there were casualties. A series of car bombs targeted American and Iraqi troops in the capital today, killing at least two Iraqi soldiers and wounding six. Mortar shells also exploded near the headquarters of an Iraqi commando battalion in a Sunni neighborhood in north Baghdad. Also today, U.S. and Iraqi forces raided suspected terrorist safe houses in two Baghdad neighborhoods, arresting eight suspects. An Iraqi general's uniform was found in one of the houses. About 30 members of the group known as al-Qaida in Iraq were arrested in the past week, including two top terror suspects.
