Texas Roadhouse will host Bassmaster Mike DelVisco at its Clearview Mall restaurant at 2 p.m. July 30.
The restaurant chain has sponsored DelVisco, a professional angler who has been part of the Bassmaster Tour for 16 years, since last year.
DelVisco will sign autographs and hand out fishing freebies to all guests. Kids can register to win one of two fishing kits.
Jeff Michaels, an assistant to the athletic director at Slippery Rock University since 2000, was named Tuesday as the new associate director of athletics at Shippensburg University.Steve Roach, a former graduate assistant in the athletic office, will replace Michaels on an interim basis.
Three All-American performers headline a group of seven inductees to the Slippery Rock University Athletic Hall of Fame.Induction ceremonies for the 22nd class will be held Sept. 10 as part of The Rock's football game against Shepherd (W.Va.) University.Joan Anderson (Class of 1995, cross country, track and field), Greg Hopkins (1995, football, wrestling, track and field) and former Moniteau teacher and coach Jay Wagner (1970, 1973, football) were All-Americans during their stints at SRU.Other inductees are Bill Kelly (1965, football), Butler High graduate and former Seneca Valley coach Bill Miller (1964, 1972, swimming) and former Rock coaches Steve Banjak (men's gymnastics) and former Butler High teacher Al Schmittlein (golf). Also, The Rock's 1972-74 football coaching staff will receive the Special Recognition Award.The ceremony will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the University Union with a social hour, dinner is at 4:30 and will be followed by the ceremony. Inductees will be recognized at halftime of the football game.Tickets are $30, which includes reserved admission to game, and must be bought in advance by contacting the athletic department at 724-738-2021.
