Joe Palermo of Butler shot a 71 to capture first place in the 17-and-18-year-old division of the Kings Family Restaurant/Pepsi Junior Golf Tournament, held at Latrobe Elks Golf Course Monday.

Rob McClellan of Olde Stonewall Golf Club tied Roy Vucinich of Allegheny Country Club for first place at the Tri-State PGA event at Shannopin Country Club Monday.McClellan of Butler fired a 34-31-65. Other area placewinners were Joe Boros of Treesdale Golf and Country Club (36-35-71, t-12th), Travis Dickson of Treesdale (37-35-72, t-15), John Aubrey of Aubrey's Dubbs Dred (35-37-72, t-15th) and PGA professional Marty Rinker of Slippery Rock (40-33-73).Aubrey's score was good enough to place fourth in the Senior events and McClellan, Dickson and Rinker also earned qualifer spots for the Christopher J. Seretti Memorial Golf Classic Aug. 22 and 23 at Montour Heights Country Club.

Ryan Prokay of Grove City fired an 81 to win the boys Division C bracket (ages 12 to 14) in the Keystone Public Golf Association's P.J. Boatwright Junior Qualifier at Mt. Hope Golf Course Monday.Brian Routhieaux of Mars placed second in the Division B boys (15 to 17) with a 72, one stroke behind the winner.
