Nathan Smith had the first-day lead at the 101st West Penn Open Tuesday, but couldn't carry it over to round 2 on Wednesday.
Smith, of Chicora, sizzled with a 67 in the first round, but his 77 Wednesday allowed him to finish in a tie for third place with Bob Friend (71-73-144) in the tournament, which was held at Oakmont Country Club.
Roy Vucinich, who was two strokes behind Smith after Tuesday, fired another 69 for a score of 138 to claim the championship. He was the only golfer to finish under par.
Gordon Vietmeier was second at 142 (68-74) and Steve Wheatcroft was fifth (72-73-145).
Other notables included Butler native Rob McClellan (79-72-151, t-19th place), Rick Stimmel of Cranberry Township (78-74-152, t-23), John Aubrey Sr. of Aubrey's Dubbs Dred (75-77-152, t-23rd), Sean Knapp (78-77-155, t-40th) and John Aubrey Jr. of Butler (79-80-159, 51st).
In all, 124 golfers started the tournament, 64 of which finished both rounds.
NEW YORK - Speedy outfielder Scott Podsednik of the Chicago White Sox and Astros pitcher Roy Oswalt earned the final spots on the All-Star teams in Internet fan voting.In a surprise finish, the unheralded Podsednik edged popular Yankees captain Derek Jeter for the 32nd roster spot on the American League squad. Podsednik also beat out Minnesota center fielder Torii Hunter, New York outfielder Hideki Matsui and Tampa Bay outfielder Carl Crawford.He and Oswalt each made the All-Star team for the first time. Oswalt topped four other NL pitchers in the voting: San Diego's Trevor Hoffman, Arizona's Brandon Webb, and Philadelphia's Billy Wagner and Brett Myers - the first time fans had a chance to elect a pitcher to the All-Star game since 1934.

GSTAAD, Switzerland - Andreas Seppi of Italy upset fifth-seeded Ivan Ljubicic 7-6 (4), 6-3 in the rain-interrupted second round of the Swiss Open.Seppi will next face second-seeded Gaston Gaudio, who defeated Davide Sanguinetti 6-2, 6-2.In the only other match completed, Romanian qualifier Razvan Sabau beat Sargis Sargsian 6-4, 6-4. Rain postponed the match between Feliciano Lopez and Potito Starace until Thursday.
