8 Butler Cubs boxers highlight card Wed.
Butler Cubs boxing manager Don Spinetti likes what he's sees on the club's next fight card.
"I think we have a good card and we have eight Butler kids on there," said Spinetti. "That's the big thing."
The Cubs will host at least 10 amateur bouts beginning at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, a night of boxing that will be highlighted by Butler's Ryan Covert in the 178-pound class against Octavio Arajano of Renegade's Gym in Meadville.
Another bout of interest will be the debut of Joel Rehm in the 150-pound bout.
Rehm played basketball at Butler High School and played a key role in helping the Butler County Community College basketball team to its first winning season in eight years.
Rehm averaged nine points, seven assists and four rebounds per game for the Pioneers last winter. He also made the dean's list.
He will face Lou Zicarelli of 516 Gym in Tarentum, who is also taking part in his first fight.
Spinetti said Rehm wanted to build up for basketball in hopes of getting a scholarship and decided to try his hand at boxing as well.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students. The Cubs Hall is located on 113 S. McKean Street.
