Seneca Valley graduate Zach Jackson was recently promoted to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Toronto Blue Jays' Class AA team, where he promptly picked up a win in his first start.

The pitcher gave up five hits over eight innings, two strikeouts and no walks in a 4-1 victory against Portland Wednesday.

Jackson was 8-1 in 10 starts with a 2.88 ERA, 48 strikeouts and six walks at Class A Dunedin.

New Hampshire will play at Akron Tuesday through Thursday then at Erie Friday through next Sunday.

Greg Walter, who was the starting goalie for the Slippery Rock High School boys soccer team last fall, will continue his athletic and academic careers at Marshall University.Walter recorded 14 shutouts for the Rockets last season.
