Slippery Rock University junior right-handed pitcher Dan Herisko has been named first team NCAA Division II All-North Atlantic Region by both the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America and the Americasn Baseball Coaches Association.

Herisko was 5-2 with a 2.17 earned run average and five saves this spring. Two teammates - pitcher Rocky D'Angelo and outfielder Matt Kozusko - were named honorable mention all-region.

SRU finished the 2005 season with a 31-15 record.

DENVER (AP) - Jerry Rice signed a one-year deal Wednesday with the Denver Broncos, where he'll compete for a spot as a reserve.If Rice makes it he'll play his 21st season in orange and blue and will add to his totals of 1,549 catches for 22,895 yards and 197 touchdowns, all league records.

WASHINGTON - NFL owners on Wedndsday unanimously approved the $600 million sale of the Minnesota Vikings to a group led by New Jersey shopping mall magnate Zygmunt Wilf.Wilf was given the go-ahead to purchase the team from Red McCombs, with the closing date expected to take place in June.

TAMPA, Fla. - The Super Bowl is headed back to Tampa in 2009.The city was selected Wednesday to host the NFL title game for the fourth time, beating out three other finalists - Atlanta, Houston and Miami.Next season's Super Bowl will be Feb. 5, 2006, in Detroit, with the 2007 game in Miami, and the 2008 edition in a new stadium being built in Glendale, Ariz.
