Spurs take home-court away from Phoenix
PHOENIX - The San Antonio Spurs showed they can also be a force on offense.
The franchise that used defense to make its reputation and win two NBA championships beat the Phoenix Suns at their own triple-digit game Sunday, opening the Western Conference finals with a 121-114 victory.
"When you're known as a defensive team, you don't expect them to be able to score," the Spurs' Robert Horry said, "but we've got some scorers on this team."
Such as Tim Duncan, Brent Barry and Tony Parker, who took control of the game and silenced the packed house at America West Arena. The Spurs abruptly stole home-court advantage from a Phoenix team that won an NBA-best 62 games in the regular season. Game 2 is Tuesday night.
