He also recorded a hole-in-on on the 152-yard hole with a 9-iron.

SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco Giants transferred Barry Bonds to the 60-day disabled list Friday to free up a roster spot.Bonds, who has undergone three arthroscopic surgeries on his right knee since Jan. 31, is eligible to return on June 2, but isn't expected back until after the All-Star break. He has endured repeated setbacks with his knee, including an infection that required additional surgery and treatment with antibiotics.Bonds was at SBC Park as the Giants opened the Bay Bridge interleague series against the Oakland Athletics.

CONCORD, N.C. - Aided by a 13-second pit stop by his crew, Ryan Newman sped to the pole for the Nextel All-Star Challenge, edging Mark Martin and teammate Rusty Wallace for the top spot. The qualifying format included three laps and a pit stop, and although Kasey Kahne had a faster speed on the track, the combination of the quick service from the crew and a smooth entry onto pit road put Newman over the top.Several drivers had trouble getting slowed down in time, including Tony Stewart, who spun out and placed 17th out of 20 cars. Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick and Dale Jarrett were penalized 20 seconds for speeding on pit road at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

CONCORD, N.C. - Nextel Cup rookie Kyle Busch became the youngest winner in Craftsman Truck Series history Friday, holding off Terry Cook and Ted Musgrave in a three-lap closing sprint at the Quaker Steak & Lube 200.The 20-year-old Busch beat the previous mark set by the late Ricky Hendrick, 21 when he won in 2001. Hendrick was killed along with nine other people in a plane crash last October.

FORT WORTH, Texas - Kenny Perry is having vision problems that make it difficult for him to read greens or see clearly from long distances and shady spots.Yet, Perry is so comfortable playing at the Colonial that he's still in the lead by three strokes with a tournament-record score after two rounds.Perry shot a bogey-free 7-under 63 on Friday for his best round of the year, moving to 12-under 128. That is the 36-hole scoring record at Colonial, where Perry also holds the overall scoring record of 19 under for his 2003 victory.D.J. Trahan (67) and Ted Purdy (65), whose first PGA Tour victory came last week at the Byron Nelson Championship, were tied for second at 9 under.
