Butler graduate Melanie Buczko, a sophomore on the Bucknell University women's track and field team, has been named Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week.
Buczko hit the NCAA regional qualifying standard in the pole vault at the Penn Relay, clearing a height of 12 feet, 9½ inches. She placed third in the event.
Bucknell competes in the Patriot League Championships this weekend at Lafayette College in Easton.
Butler graduate Beth Wolensky, a junior on the Chatham College women's tennis team, has been named the Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference Outstanding Player of the Year.Wolensky is the Chatham team captain and played at No. 1 singles and doubles this season.
Slippery Rock University's Preston Gibbs was named PSAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week.Gibbs won the long and triple jumps at the Baldwin-Wallace Sparky Adams Invitational last weekend. His triple jump of 46 feet, 8 inches leads the conference by 6½ inches and his long jump (22-9¾) is third best in the league this year.
