The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team registered wins in No. 1 and 2 doubles and in the top three singles matches to defeat Clarion 5-4 Wednesday.

Juniors Ashley Michaux and Ashley Greene (Seneca Valley) and freshman Kate Ingram each recorded wins in both their singles and doubles matches to lead The Rock (6-10).

Matt Walsh carded a 73 to tie for 10th place in the individual competition Wednesday and led the SRU golf team to a 10th place finish in the Cecil Spadafora IUP Invitational at Indiana (Pa.) Country Club.The Rock finished 12 strokes off the pace set by Clarion (293), which won the team title over West Liberty (W.Va.) State in the first playoff hole.Other Rock golfers were Adam Scott and Adam Schuster (t-45th place, 77), A-C Valley graduate Chris Marron (52nd place, 78) and Burnie Smucker (68th place, 82).
