Keep your vacation safe with these tips
The Walter Reed Army Medical Center offers the following hints for vacation safety:
Carefully plan your trip. Drive only a reasonable number of miles each day; arrange overnight accommodations in advance to ensure vacancy; avoid driving at night; and keep your tank full.
Check your vehicle. Make sure the following equipment is working properly: tires, including your spare; brakes; battery; lights; and windshield wipers.
Take essential items. In case of an emergency you'll need: basic tools; jack; flashlight and flares; first-aid kit; driver's license; and car registration.
