Hahn's no-hitter helps Rock softball sweep Scots

Brittany Hahn pitched a no-hitter as the Slippery Rock University softball team swept Edinboro University, 12-3 and 2-0, Friday.

Hahn faced the minimum of 21 batters. Only an error in the top of the fifth inning prevented a perfect game.

The no-hitter is thought to be the first in Rock softball history.

Laura Campbell singled in a run in the bottom of the first and Melissa Lowrey homered to provide all the offense The Rock needed in the second game.

Niki Banner hit a grand slam home run in the first game to lead the way for SRU (19-9, 3-3), which has won six straight.

Knoch High School graduate Chase Rowe went 5-for-9 with a home run and three RBI as the Slippery Rock University baseball team split with Clarion University Friday.The Rock (22-5) overcame a 5-1 deficit in the first game to claim an 8-6 victory, but was outscored 12-11 in the second game.Rowe now has four home runs and 29 RBI this season.Matt Kozusko also had five hits in the two games, including a double and a two-run home run.

Val Fair had five hits and Nikki Cranmer added three singles as the Butler County Community College softball team was swept 13-7 and 3-2 by the Community College of Beaver County recently.Fair had three hits in the first game and added two more in the nightcap.Sarah Callender pitched a complete game in the 3-2 loss.
