Rock baseball at 20-2

The Slippery Rock University baseball team opened up the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference schedule in style.

Rocky D'Angelo tossed a three-hit shutout in a 2-0 win in the first game against Indiana (Pa.) University and Colin Scott coughed up just one earned run in a 5-1 win in the nightcap Friday afternoon.

The wins gave The Rock a 20-2 overall record and a 2-0 mark in the PSAC.

J.D. Lowry drove in both runs in the first game for SRU and Chase Rowe and Brad Wilson each drove home a pair of runs in the second contest.

Slippery Rock will be back in action Saturday against IUP (7-5, 0-2) in Indiana, Pa. for a doubleheader.

Grove City College dropped a 13-4 decision to Westminster in a Presidents Athletic Conference opener.

Jerry Ott had a two-run homer and Michael McMillen went 3-for-3 with an RBI for the Wolverines (2-8, 0-1).

The Rock salvaged a doubleheader split with Indiana (Pa.), winning an 11-5 decision after losing 11-5 in the opener.Andrea Murdock led SRU's effort with a two-homer, five-RBI effort in the nightcap. Jesse Gump added a home run and four RBI.In the opener, Stacey Rhoades smacked a pair of home runs, drove in four runs and scored two runs. Carrie Casoni had two hits, including a home run.
