Fine furniture, china, glassware, and jewelry are among the items rescued from estate sales and auctions that are awaiting appreciative new owners. Situated just a block off of Main Street in Butler, Then and Again is at 304 N. Washington St.

Dottie has always enjoyed antiques and dreamed of setting up a shop in an old house, keeping the themes of each room intact. Five years ago the Thomases started collecting items and then bought the Italian-style house in 1998.

After two years of extensive renovations, the business opened in November 2000.

True to Dottie's vision, you can browse each room, admire the architecture and the items that furnish it. For example, the kitchen and dining room have china, utensils, depression glass and serving ware, while the bedrooms are stocked with vintage linens.

If you've priced new furniture lately, you know it might cost a small fortune to furnish your dining room or a bedroom.

Dottie suggests you consider recycled fine goods. The wood is beautiful and the craftsmanship exceptional. Then and Again locates such pieces, then cleans and polishes them so they are ready for use.
