Melissa Lynn Brown of Saxonburg was named first runner-up in the Pennsylvania Junior Miss 2005 Scholarship Program held March 12 at Homer Center High School in Indiana, Pa.
She was also the winner in the fitness, talent and poise categories.
She qualified for a place in the competition by winning the 2005 Butler County Junior Miss title.
Melissa is the daughter of Timothy and Valerie Brown of Saxonburg. A senior at Knoch High School, she is active in the National Honor Society, student council, varsity softball and French Club.
She has also been named Miss Geneva Majorette 2004, the House of Representatives-Academic Achievement Award winner and the State Duet Baton champion.
Sarah Molczan, daughter of Jeff and Terri Molczan of Butler, was recently named Teen Miss Dance of Pennsylvania for 2005 at the Dance Masters of Pennsylvania annual convention held in Pittsburgh.She will compete in the national competition to be held in July in Nashville, Tenn.Other Butler County contestants included Annie Rosellini, daughter of Jamie and LuAnn Rosellini of Butler, who received second runner-up and Emiley Duespohl, daughter of Colleen and Tom Duespohl of Butler.All three contestants are students at Lee's School of Dance.---
Kelly Molnar of Butler was one of 25 women nationwide selected as a finalist in the Trump Taj Mahal Lady Luck Model Search.She will compete for the winning title and a $25,000 modeling contract on April 1, 2, and 3.---During a lottery drawing held recently in Lycoming County,Marcel Ferrereof Grove City was the winner of four tickets to the Little League World Series Championship Game on Aug. 28 in Williamsport.He will also receive T-shirts, hats, trading pins, programs and museum admission for being a selected participant.Every year, fans who would like to attend the game prepare a letter requesting no more than four tickets.
