The Rock was tied with Shippensburg at halftime, but shot just 28 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes while suffering a 69-53 men's basketball loss.

The setback dampened SRU's playoff hopes. The Rock (7-19, 5-6) must win its season finale at Indiana (Pa.) Wednesday, then hope IUP loses to Clarion next Saturday to force a tie for the fourth and final playoff spot in the PSAC West.

SRU did not score a field goal during a stretch of eight minutes and 58 seconds in the second half, enabling Shippensburg (16-9, 6-4) to go on a 19-2 run and take control of the game.

Bill Johnson led The Rock with 18 points while Mason Glick added 13 points and five assists. Glenn Reepmeyer contributed 13 points and nine rebounds.

Chuck Davis led the Red Raiders with 26 points, including three treys. Seth Scott added 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Shippensburg 62, SRU 54 (women) -

Stacey Green recorded her eighth double-double of the season, but The Rock was officially eliminated from the PSAC West playoff chase.

Green had 10 points and a season-high 18 rebounds. Grove City High School graduate Amber McFeely led all SRU scorers with a season-high 16 points.

McFeely scored 12 points in the first half as SRU took a 30-26 lead into halftime.

Shippensburg (16-8, 7-3) built a 52-37 lead with 5:44 remaining before a furious Rock rally cut the gap to 58-54 with 51 seconds left. Kristen Bonner hit two 3-pointers during the rally.

The Red Raiders sank four free throws in the final seconds to hold off SRU 9-17, 3-8).

Shanna Oaddams paced four Shippensburg players in double figures with 13 points.
