The Knoch boys and girls basketball teams will be part of a WPIAL Class AAA second-round doubleheader Friday.

The Knights girls team (14-8) will face Blackhawk (13-10) at 6:30 p.m. Friday at North Hills High School, followed by the Knights boys team (18-5) against Yough (16-7) at 8 on the same floor.

The Mars girls team will face Hopewell (18-3) at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Butler High School.

That game will be followed by a Class AA boys game between Quaker Valley (23-1) Farrell (19-4) at 8.

DENVER - The NBA is creating standard security guidelines for all of its arenas in an attempt to prevent another brawl between players and fans, according to a report.The league will provide directives on security officers, alcohol sales, and fan behavior, Commissioner David Stern told The Denver Post in a story published Thursday. The policies are to go into effect starting next week, after the All-Star break.The guidelines are to be announced today.The league plans to provide guidelines on the number of security officers teams should employ, as well as their tactics and placement in the arenas, the paper reported.Also, the league plans to limit the size and number of beers sold, and have teams announce what type of fan behavior is considered unacceptable.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - Unwilling to accept a secondary role with the Buffalo Bills, quarterback Drew Bledsoe is seeking a new team for another shot at being a starter.Granting Bledsoe's request to be cut, the Bills announced Wednesday they will waive the 12-year veteran Feb. 22, the first day NFL teams are allowed to officially release players. The decision came after the Bills informed him last week of their plans to give the starting job to J.P. Losman, Buffalo's second of two first-round draft choices last year.

Mars graduate Ashley Bean scored a team-high 16 points and pulled down five rebounds to lead the Geneva College women's basketball team to a 63-51 victory over St. Vincent College Tuesday.Bean connected on 4 of 5 3-point attempts and was 5-of-10 from the floor overall in just 22 minutes of play.Butler grad Maura Connelly had four points, three assists and two rebounds for St. Vincent.

Mary Jane Eaton scored a team-high 16 points and added six rebounds, but the Westminster College women's basketball team dropped a 59-47 decision to Washington & Jefferson Wednesday in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.Eaton is a graduate of Union High School.
