Duquesne snaps four-game slide

PITTSBURGH - Kieron Achara had 19 points as Duquesne snapped a four-game losing streak with an 83-70 win against St. Bonaventure on Sunday.

The Dukes (5-14, 2-4 Atlantic 10) went on a 14-5 run early in the second half to overcome a 37-36 halftime deficit on their way to giving the Bonnies their fifth straight loss.

Bryant McAllister had 14 of his 17 points in the second half and Jack Higgins added 15 points for the Dukes as they scored their most points in a 40-minute game this season. The Dukes scored 94 in a 94-93 double-overtime victory against Dayton on Jan. 5.

Wade Dunston led St. Bonaventure (1-15, 0-5) with 17 points, Isiah Carson added 16 points and Ahmad Smith had 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The Bonnies charged out to an early 13-3 lead and didn't trail until a pair of Achara free throws put the Dukes on top, 34-33, with 2:08 to play in the first half.
