Jamario Thomas, North Texas, ran for 291 yards, tying an NCAA mark with his fifth straight 200-yard game, and scored four touchdowns to help North Texas beat Idaho 51-29. The freshman has 1,709 yards this season.

Vince Young, Texas, had 409 combined yards, including a 22-yard scramble on a fourth-and-18, and threw the winning TD pass with 11 seconds remaining in No. 6 Texas' 27-23 victory over Kansas 27-23.

Alex Smith, Utah, passed for 244 yards and three touchdowns and ran for a game-high 105 yards and another TD in the No. 7 Utes' 45-28 victory over Wyoming.

Michael Hart, Michigan, ran for 151 yards and a season-high three touchdowns to help No. 9 Wolverines beat Northwestern 42-20.

Carnell Williams and Ronnie Brown, Auburn, combined for 260 yards of total offense and each scored a touchdown in the third-ranked Tigers' 24-6 victory over No. 8 Georgia.

Jon Helmandollar, Boise State, scored his third touchdown in the second overtime, giving No. 14 Boise State a 56-49 victory over San Jose State.

Chris Leak, Florida, threw a career-high six touchdown passes to lead the Gators to a 48-14 rout of South Carolina.

Marshawn Lynch, California, finished with 121 yards, running for two touchdowns and catching another as the fifth-ranked Golden Bears beat Washington 42-12.

Tyler Palko, Pittsburgh, became the first quarterback to throw five touchdown passes against Notre Dame, four in the first half alone, to help the Panthers to a 41-38 victory over the 24th-ranked Irish.

Jason White, Oklahoma, went 29-for-35 - including a school-record 18 in a row - for 383 yards and three touchdowns to help No. 2 Oklahoma rout Nebraska 30-3.

Omar Jacobs, Bowling Green, passed for 389 yards and five touchdowns to lead Bowling Green to a 56-35 win over Marshall. Jacobs leads the nation with 32 TD passes.

Erik Meyer, Eastern Washington, passed for 372 yards and five touchdowns, including the winner in overtime, as Eastern Washington rallied for a 51-44 victory over Montana State.

LenDale White, Southern California, ran for 118 yards on 16 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead the top-ranked Trojans to a 49-9 victory over Arizona. Southern Cal clinched the Pac-10 championship for the second straight year.

HONORED

Arizona State retired the late Pat Tillman's No. 42 jersey at halftime of its 45-28 win over Washington State. Tillman, a star linebacker and honor student at Arizona State, was killed in combat in Afghanistan in April.

KNOCK OUT

No. 4 Wisconsin had been allowing 9.1 points a game - lowest in the nation - before the Badgers' 49-14 loss to Michigan State on Saturday. The Spartans rolled up 551 yards of total offense, including 430 on the ground.

RUSH HOUR

Laurence Maroney ran 19 times for 156 yards and a career-high three touchdowns, and Marion Barber III carried 29 times for 167 yards in Minnesota's 29-27 loss to Iowa. Barber surpassed 1,000 yards for the second straight season, joining Maroney as the first pair of teammates to accomplish that in NCAA history. Iowa, which entered with a conference-best average of 68.2 yards rushing allowed, gave up 337 yards on the ground to the Gophers.

BACKUP

Seymore Shaw was a solid replacement for the injured Vernand Morency, rushing for 172 yards and a touchdown on 30 carries to lead No. 25 Oklahoma State to a 49-21 victory over Baylor. Morency, the nation's sixth-leading rusher, did not play after fluid was drained from a knee.

RUSHING RECORDS

J.J. Arrington, who ran for 121 yards in California's 42-12 win over Washington, has posted 100-yard efforts in all nine games this season, a school record. The Pac-10 record is 11 by Southern California's Marcus Allen in 1981, when he won the Heisman Trophy. ... Walter Washington ran for three touchdowns and three another in Temple's 34-24 win over Syracuse. Washington's 15 touchdowns this season also tied the school record set by running back Paul Palmer in 1986, when he finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting. ... Cedric Benson had 161 yards in Texas' 27-23 win over Kansas and set an NCAA record with his 36th game with a touchdown.

Steve Breaston scored twice in 35 seconds, catching a 10-yard TD pass and returning a punt 67 yards for another TD in Michigan's 42-20 win over Northwestern. ... Roscoe Parrish returned a punt for a touchdown and caught a clinching touchdown pass in the final minute as Miami beat Virginia 31-21. ... DeJuan Tribble returned a first-quarter punt 41 yards for a score and Will Blackmon went 71 yards for a TD with a punt return in the fourth quarter of Boston College's 36-17 win over West Virginia. ... Djay Jones returned a blocked punt for a touchdown and knocked down another punt himself, leading Georgia Tech to a 30-10 victory over Connecticut ... Erick Harris returned two punts for touchdowns, a first in school history, in Liberty's 43-40 win over Chattanooga.

SAFETY DANCE

Rice recorded two safeties in the last six minutes of regulation to force overtime against UTEP. Trailing 21-17, Rice blocked Bryce Benekos' punt for a safety with 5:20 left to pull within two. With 17 seconds left, Benekos lost a rain-soaked ball out of the end zone to tie the game. Both teams scored in the first overtime. In the second, Jordan Palmer threw a 25-yard TD pass to Johnnie Lee for UTEP and Rice's Ed Bailey fumbled to give the Miners a 35-28 victory.

FUMBLE FINDER

Alvin Nnabuife returned two fumbles for touchdowns in SMU's 38-20 win over Nevada.

TRIPLE OPTION

Nick Turner led three 100-yard rushers for Murray State as the Racers beat Tennessee-Martin 38-0. Turner rushed for 148 yards on 26 carries, Ron Lane carried the ball 18 times for 134 yards and two touchdowns and Chad Cook added 106 yards on 19 carries.

IVY LEAK

Penn's Ivy League-record winning streak was snapped at 20 with a 31-10 loss to Harvard. The Quakers also had won 17 straight at home. Harvard, the only unbeaten team in I-AA, won at Penn for the first time since 1980.

SNAPPED

Pittsburgh won at Notre Dame Stadium for the first time since 1986, ending an 0-6 streak with a 41-24 win. It was just Pitt's second win in its last 13 games against the Irish. ... Penn State ended a six-game losing streak with a 22-18 victory over Indiana. The Nittany Lions have not lost seven straight since 1931. The victory also ended a 10-game skid outside State College, Pa. ... No. 13 West Virginia's 36-17 loss to No. 23 Boston College was the first November defeat for the Mountaineers under fourth-year coach Rich Rodriguez. West Virginia also had its 10-game conference and home winning streaks broken. ... Kentucky snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 14-13 win over Vanderbilt. ... Boise State extended the nation's longest winning streak to 20 games with a 56-49 double-overtime victory over San Jose State. ... Michigan has won 15 straight games at home and 13 conference games in a row after the Wolverines' 42-20 victory over Northwestern. ... Oklahoma State beat Baylor for the ninth straight time, 49-21. ... LSU's 26-10 win over Alabama was the ninth straight at home for the Tigers. ... WHEN IT COUNTS

Michael Gaston missed three of his five PAT attempts before making a 45-yard field goal in overtime that gave South Carolina State a 38-35 win over Morgan State.

PLAYOFF TIME

Chad Friehauf threw five touchdown passes and finished with over 550 yards of total offense to lead Colorado Mines to a 52-33 win over Midwestern State in the first round of the NCAA Division II playoffs. Friehauf extended his single-season Division II record for total offense to 4,878 yards. It was the 14th consecutive win for the Orediggers.

FLAWLESS AGAIN

Mount Union beat Heidelberg 59-10 to complete its 10th consecutive undefeated regular season. The Division III powerhouse extended its regular-season winning streak to 104 games. Jeff Strauch rushed for 221 yards and matched a school record with six touchdowns.
