Nick Christy's goal on an assist from Justin Riggle in the sixth minute of double-overtime led the Slippery Rock University men's soccer team to a 3-2 victory over East Stroudsburg Saturday.

The Rock (11-5-2, 4-3 PSAC) stayed in playoff contention. SRU needed West Chester to lose to Bloomsburg Sunday to clinch its first playoff berth since 1985.

The 11 wins are the most by The Rock since 1982 (11-3-1).

Gary Saunders and Dave Keller accounted for SRU's other goals.

The 12th-ranked SRU women's team closed out the regular season with a 4-1 win over East Stroudsburg Saturday.The Rock (13-2-2) plays at 1 p.m. Friday when the team will host either Lock Haven or Indiana (Pa.) in a PSAC semifinal.Jaimi Wilson, Emma Wright, Julie Kirwan and Sarah Mangiarelli each tallied a goal for SRU.

Katie Klingensmith set a new school record with five assists in one game as Grove City blanked Thiel 6-0 for the Wolverines' eighth straight win.Grove City (13-6-1, 9-1) is the top seed in next week's PAC Championship Tournament.Grove City will host a PAC Tournament semifinal match at 3 p.m. Thursday.

Holly Whoolery earned All-PSAC honors by placing eighth overall to lead the SRU women's team to a second-place finish in the PSAC Championships Saturday in Kutztown.The runner-up position was The Rock's best since 1995, when the program won the PSAC crown. Edinboro won this year's title with 26 points. Grove City College's men's squad had five of the top six finishers as the Wolverines won their 14th straight PAC crown.Andrew Kloes won the 8K event with a time of 27:54. The Wolverines won with 15 points.In the women's race, six Wolverines finished in the top 10, led by Elisa Pedersen's third consecutive championship.
