Jerious Norwood, Mississippi State, rushed for 174 yards on 29 carries and two TDs, including a 37-yard touchdown run with 32 seconds remaining to lead the Bulldogs to a 38-31 upset of No. 20 Florida.

Vince Young, Texas, had a career-high 300 yards of total offense, ran for four touchdowns and threw for another to lead No. 8 Texas over Texas Tech 51-21 on Saturday night. He is the sixth player in NCAA Division I history to rush for 1,000 yards in four consecutive seasons.

Allen Webb, Kansas State, ran for 147 yards and scored four TDs after starting at quarterback in place of injured Dylan Meier, leading the Wildcats past Nebraska 45-21.

Michael Hart, Michigan, ran for 206 yards to help the No. 13 Wolverines to a 16-14 win over No. 12 Purdue.

Andrew Walter, Arizona State, threw for 415 yards and six touchdown passes, two in a fourth-quarter rally, to lead No. 21 Arizona State to a 48-42 victory over UCLA.

Jason White, Oklahoma, threw for 389 yards and four touchdowns and the second-ranked Sooners defeated Kansas 41-10.

Josh Haldi, Northern Illinois, threw for a career-high 333 yards and six touchdowns to lead the Huskies to a 59-38 win over Western Michigan.

Dennis Pitta, Brigham Young, blocked a punt and caught two touchdown passes to help BYU beat Air Force 41-24.

Obozua Ehikioya, Marist, ran for 246 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Red Foxes to a 41-35 victory over La Salle.

FOURTH THOUSAND

Texas' Cedric Benson became the sixth player in NCAA Division I history to rush for 1,000 yards in four consecutive seasons. Benson, who led the nation in rushing coming into the game against Texas Tech, surpassed 1,000 yards in the first quarter with an 8-yard run. Benson joined Ron Dayne, Wisconsin (1996-99); Tony Dorsett, Pittsburgh (1973-76); Avon Cobourne, West Virginia (1999-02); Denvis Manns, New Mexico State (1995-98) and Amos Lawrence, North Carolina (1977-80) as four-time 1,000-yard rushers.

QUICK THOUSAND

Oklahoma's freshman running back Adrian Peterson, needing 99 yards to tie Emmitt Smith and Marshall Faulk as the quickest freshmen to gain 1,000 yards, gained 126 yards on 22 carries in the second-ranked Sooners' 41-10 rout of Kansas. Peterson has 1,027 yards in just seven games.

SWING

Boston College quarterback Paul Peterson struggled in the first half against No. 24 Notre Dame, completing just 8 of 18 passes for 96 yards. In the second half, he completed 19-of-23 for 297 yards, leading the Eagles to a 24-23 win. The Eagles outgained the Irish 319 yards to 122 yards in the second half and outscored them 17-3 after halftime.

BLANKED

Top-ranked Southern California held Washington to 113 total yards and only six first downs in a 38-0 rout. The Huskies were shut out for the first time since Nov. 7, 1981 when they lost to UCLA 31-0. They had scored in 271 straight games - the longest active streak among Division I-A schools.

BENTLEY BOMBERS

Marc Eddy became the eighth quarterback in Division II history to throw for 10,000 yards in Bentley's 62-3 rout of St. Anselm. Eddy completed 23 of 38 passes for 414 yards and six touchdowns before leaving early in the second half. Eddy has thrown for 10,147 yards and 115 touchdowns - only one shy of Chris Hatcher's D-II record. Eddy threw a TD pass in his 26th straight game, breaking the record previously held by J.T. O'Sullivan of UC Davis. It was the 24th time in Eddy's career that he threw three or more TDs in a game, extending his own record. Bentley receiver Dallas Mall scored four touchdowns. It was the 37th time he has caught a touchdown pass in a game, extending his Division II record.

DANGEROUS RATTLERS

Ben Dougherty accounted for six first-half touchdowns in Florida A&M's 50-14 victory over Savannah State. Dougherty - who only played the opening two quarters - completed 14 of 19 passes for 260 yards and four touchdowns, and ran for two more scores to lead the Rattlers to a 36-0 halftime lead. Florida A&M's first extra point attempt was blocked, and the Rattlers went for 2-point conversions on their last five TDs of the half, but failed to score each time.

CLUTCH KICKS

Todd Pegram kicked a 19-yard field goal in overtime and Lee Foliaki recovered a fumble on the next possession, giving No. 17 Texas A&M a 29-26 victory over Colorado. Pegram made four field goals in the game. ... Jason Ricks kicked a 28-yard field goal with 55 seconds left to complete a rally as No. 22 Oklahoma State beat Missouri 20-17. Missouri led 17-0 in the first half. ... Kyle Schlicher's two first-half field goals accounted for all of No. 25 Iowa's points in a 6-4 win over Penn State. ... Xavier Beitia kicked a 22-yard field goal with 1:03 to play to help No. 5 Florida State beat Wake Forest 20-17. ... E.J. Cochrane kicked a 22-yard field goal with 2 seconds remaining to lift Montana State to a 27-24 victory over South Dakota State. ... Paul Ernster made a 47-yard field goal with 12 seconds remaining to cap a Northern Arizona rally that lifted the Lumberjacks to a 21-20 win over Portland State. ... John Zdonek kicked a 40-yard field goal with 4 seconds left to give Mississippi Valley State a 15-14 comeback win over Texas Southern. ...
